Get Out Of Password Hell!

Passwords are the keys to your kingdom – literally. But generating, storing or remembering them? Ugh. Nothing is more frustrating than not being able to remember a password. How to get out of password hell? Easy: free password memorization programs.

Most of us have some discomfort about the passwords we use. Maybe you are writing them down in a little book or a notepad somewhere, which is ok until you can’t find it or forget to write down a reset. Maybe you are keeping them typed on your computer (definitely not a great idea), or are one of those independent souls determined to use them as some sort of brain exercise and insist on remembering all of them in your head. Worst case? Same password for everything.

There are a number of really good FREE password memorization programs on the market that will work beautifully to help you get out of password hell. Here are just a few that I have used or looked at. All are free (and a few have paid versions), and offer various bells and whistles like password generation, alerts, or can be available on all of your computers from any location.

    • Roboform – I have used Roboform for years and like it, except there are still some things I can’t figure out; for instance how to get Roboform Everywhere to work on all my devices. FREE version for up to 10 passwords.
    • KeePass – Haven’t tried this one, but the reviews are excellent and it is a FREE download. Definitely worth a go.
    • LastPass Available from any of your computers anywhere, FREE.
    • Dashlane is a program easy to use, clear for anyone who is new to password programs, and offers some great features like an alert if your website has been breached. Thinking I might give this one a try. And yes, FREE.

If you only have a few passwords, it may not be a problem for you. But when you have 10 or 20 or 90…well, you get the picture. If you are still using any of these methods for your passwords, your computer security is in question.
